My name is Fred Georgoulis and I, along with Dana Farber and the Jimmy Fund, will be hosting the first annual Boston Marathon Motorcycle Ride on
August 11th. Our crusade is to fight cancer and change the lives of those affected by this disease. This will be the maiden voyage Boston Marathon
Motorcycle Ride. We will be riding from Hopkinton to Lowell , part of the ride will take place on the marathon route.
Be sure to check out our sponsors.
In light of the recent tragedy that occurred in Boston this past Marathon Monday, we have decided to reach out to all local law enforcement agencies and invite them to join this ride. As you all know, Officer Sean Collier of the MIT Police Department, was shot and killed while on duty by the same cowards responsible for the Boston bombings. I have personally met with Sergeant Sullivan of the MIT PD, who heads their department's motorcycle unit. He stated his department would be honored if, as part of the ride, we'll pay tribute to Officer Collier. One of Officer Collier's strongest passions was supporting the Jimmy Fund and all they do. For this reason, after the conclusion of the Marathon route, we will continue to the North Court at MIT, the sight where Officer Collier was killed, and place a wreath in his honor.
We would love to see a heavy police turnout to honor Officer Collier and help support the cause he believed in so deeply. All that join this ride will be the pioneers of the very first Boston Marathon Motorcycle Ride. Our hope is that this ride will be an annual event so sign up and be part of history! The event will be 35 dollars per motorcycle and 10 dollars per passenger. A hundred percent of the proceeds will go to Dana Farber. At this point, we are trying to get a head count to give to Dana Farber. Please join us to help fight the fight. Festivities will follow at the Lowell Pavilion with entertainment, refreshments and food. Anyone that pre-registers will receive a 2013 Boston Marathon Motorcycle patch.
Please pass this e-mail on to any department or individual that you think may be interested. More details will follow on our website.
